The Team

Iron Stage Theatrical was born in 2011 from the dream of two college theatre majors who wanted to showcase their brand of theatre and live entertainment.  Its first performance was in a barn at Willow Glen Inn in Enoch, Utah, with a handful of stage lights, borrowed microphones, and played to just six audience members.

As audiences and reputation grew, the mission of Iron Stage quickly became to utilize career professionals to train the upcoming generation of theatre artists and patrons.  We made a commitment to ensure that every cast was comprised of 1/3 professionals, 1/3 local actors, and 1/3 intern students.  This formula has proven successful in producing high quality performances while providing opportunities for artists in the communities where we perform.  This mission is still the guiding principle that guides our season selection, casting process, and decision making.

In addition to training within our main stage season, we introduced the Youth Training Program to give children and teenagers a springboard to explore and develop their interests in the performance and technical theatre arts.

 

Iron Stage Theatrical has performed on many different stages including: Willow Glen Inn (Enoch), Bumbleberry Playhouse (Springdale), Center for the Arts at Kayenta (Ivins), and on the campuses of Hurricane High School and Southern Utah University before finally finding a home in the Auditorium of Cedar City High School.  It was welcomed at the school who believed the quality of theatre we brought complimented their "standard of excellence."

For years, Producing Artistic Director Zac Trotter believed there was a professional theatre void that needed to be filled in Utah County.  The area has a long history of producing and supporting quality community and educational theatre performances (Hale Center, Sundance, etc.), and data shows that the majority of patrons that visit Tuacahn, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, Pioneer Theatre, and the Utah Festival Opera are from Utah and Salt Lake Counties.  Why not bring the quality of theatre these patrons are traveling for right to their doorstep?

In 2021, that opportunity presented itself.  It was at an open house where Zac & Tatem Trotter found Art City Playhouse in Springville, Utah and made efforts to begin producing professional live entertainment for the community there.  Our 6 person team said goodbye to Southern Utah and moved operations to Springville in the Summer of 2021.  Winter Wonderettes will be the beginning of a long history of sharing professional theatre and Iron Stage's unique flavor of performance arts with the communities of Utah County.
